As we prepare for the 2024 MEDITECH Users Network (MUN) event, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the success of last year's conference and look ahead to this year's theme, ‘Maximising the Value of MEDITECH’. Our journey through the MUN 2023 conference provided critical insights into how MEDITECH can shape the future of healthcare, and these takeaways continue to influence our approach in 2024.

Key Takeaways from MUN 2023

The MUN 2023 event emphasised the importance of integrity, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility in healthcare IT, which align with MEDITECH's strategy to advance digital health technologies across the EU. Our core learnings from the event revolved around these central pillars:

  1. Investing in the Future: One of the major themes was the need for continuous investment in people, processes, and technology. MEDITECH's long-term vision highlighted the importance of developing solutions that ensure a positive impact on staff, patients, and the broader healthcare industry.
  2. Interoperability and Innovation: Another focus was MEDITECH's efforts to combat major healthcare challenges, such as clinician burnout and fragmented patient histories, by leveraging modern solutions. As highlighted in last year's MEDITECH Strategy Presentation, game-changing tools like Traverse Exchange and Precision Medicine were introduced as part of the system's ongoing commitment to enhancing interoperability. While these tools are not yet available in the UK, they exemplify MEDITECH's dedication to creating seamless, integrated patient care pathways and improving access to clinical information across healthcare settings.
  3. Expanse Roadmap and Digital Maturity: The 18-24-month roadmap outlined key developments, including enhanced physician and nursing tools, patient engagement platforms, and population health insights. These innovations aim to optimise operational efficiency while fostering holistic patient-centred care.
  4. Fishing in the same pond: At MUN 2023, CereCore International led an insightful panel discussion, chaired by Daniel Eyre, VP for Business Development, which explored the critical resource challenges facing healthcare organisations as they strive to meet digital transformation goals. The panel featured key industry leaders, including Peter White, Chief Nursing Information Officer at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Richard Strover, Associate Director for Information at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, and Katie Trott, Chief Clinical Informatics Officer at HCA Healthcare UK. These experts shared valuable insights on overcoming the difficulties in fulfilling specialised skillset requirements and emphasised the importance of partnering with organisations that have deep experience in both the MEDITECH product and the sector being served.

This session, along with other presentations at the event, provided a valuable opportunity to engage with peers and gain insights into how different organisations are navigating similar challenges across the industry.

Looking Forward: MUN 2024 Expectations

This year's MUN 2024 promises to build upon the foundation laid in previous conferences by focusing on the theme ‘Maximising the Value of MEDITECH’. We are committed to sharing our insights on this topic and look forward to engaging in conversations with NHS Trusts and other healthcare organisations as you navigate digital transformation.

Join us during our presentation,  ‘Maximising the Value of MEDITECH: Lessons, Opportunities, and Avoiding Pitfalls in the NHS,’ scheduled for October 2nd at 10:30 am, during which we’ll explore global lessons in optimising MEDITECH and how UK-based Trusts can apply these insights to maximise productivity and clinical efficiency.

We expect this year's event to not only highlight innovative use cases but also offer tangible strategies for overcoming challenges related to interoperability, AI integration, and enhancing clinical efficiency.

Our Commitment to the Future of MEDITECH: Why Partner with us?

Our involvement in MUN 2024 is a testament to our continued commitment to supporting healthcare organisations in their journey towards digital maturity.
